What is Let's Encrypt?​

Let's Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority that issues digital certificates to enable HTTPS (SSL/TLS) on websites. These certificates are recognized and trusted by all modern browsers, ensuring secure communication between your website and its visitors.

Issuing Certificates​

Our platform supports Let's Encrypt certificates directly within the control panel, allowing you to easily secure your domains. You can issue these certificates by navigating to Web > SSL Certificates in the control panel.

Key Limitations:​

  • Hostname Limit: You can bundle up to 100 hostnames into a single Let's Encrypt certificate.
  • Generation Frequency: A hostname can have its certificate generated or renewed up to 5 times per week.
  • Certificate Validity: Let's Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.
  • Automatic Renewal: The control panel will automatically renew your certificate within 10 days before it expires.
  • Wildcard Certificates: Please note that wildcard certificates (covering all subdomains of a domain) are not supported.

How It Works​

When you issue a Let's Encrypt certificate, it is installed and configured automatically for your domain. The control panel takes care of the entire process, from generation to installation, ensuring that your site remains secure without manual intervention.

Important Considerations​

Given the limitations, it's crucial to manage your certificates appropriately:

  • If you require SSL coverage for more than 100 hostnames, consider distributing them across multiple certificates.
  • To avoid interruptions, the automatic renewal process ensures that your certificates are kept up to date. However, monitor the renewal process, especially if you have non-standard configurations.
  • Since wildcard certificates aren't supported, you'll need to issue separate certificates for each subdomain.
